Merry Christmas from Sandpoint!

When the spring came we realized that the volume of baby equipment was going to be more than the volume of our cabin in the woods. Through some prayer and Craigslist we found a great apartment…in a barn. We moved into The Barn in April and enjoy a two bedroom apartment with plenty of room for all of our things, including Jake’s old truck, and an unbelievable view.

Our involvement at the Life Choices Pregnancy Center has picked up this year. In the spring the board chairman retired and the Board voted Jacob to fill the position. This is been interesting because the majority of the other board members are in our grandparents generation, but I Timothy 4:12 has been ringing in Jake's ears! Ruth continues to serve on the board as well and she also helps with the bookkeeping. This fall the Center hosted a very successful fundraising banquet and moved into a larger, nicer facility. It has been very challenging work, but very rewarding!
We thought long and hard about where to go for summer vacation and with gas at $5.25/gal we thought we’d stick close to home... so we went to Cannon Beach, Oregon. Despite the gas bill it was a great time! We found a really fun vacation rental that was literally (floating) on the Nehalem River.

We did some shopping, crabbing and even had a surprise visit from Ruth’s sister, Natalie, and her family so the cousins had a lot of fun on the beach.

Late summer brought a special visit from Ruth’s Tante (aunt) Resi who came all the way from the Netherlands. She and Natalie’s family came to stay with us for most of a week and we had fun showing them around Sandpoint; and Resi fixed a traditional Indonesian dinner for us.

Kiana celebrated and celebrated and celebrated her first birthday throughout September (and even on the 14th). Between celebrating with grandparents, parents and friends she survived three birthday parties and fun was had by all.

The fall brought a welcomed increase in Ruth’s teaching business. She is busy almost every day of the week with private violin lessons and private music classes that she has organized in Sandpoint and in Clark Fork. She just had two Christmas recitals in conjunction with the Arts Alliance Children's Chior. They serenaded for the patrons of the library and blessed the socks off of the residents of Bridge Assisted Living.

This year Quest delivered several airplanes to customers all over the world. Jacob was excited to help with a skydiving version of the plane that was delivered to a skydiving group in Germany this summer. Serial Number 8 will be the first plane to go directly to the mission field and it is on track to be delivered by the end of the year!

We just had the first snow of the year and a cold snap with temps in the single digits!

(Kiana is has found ways to cope with the cold.)

We figured that you're most interested in an update on Kiana so we've put it here at the end of the letter. (Ever notice that the milk is at the back of the store?) Kiana is doing very well. She is nearly 16 moths old and a very happy toddler. She has always been discontent to be immobile so for her to crawl earlier this year (on her hands and feet- never on hands and knees) was a big source of joy for her; but she has graduated to walking and loves it! Her latest tricks are talking (in the North Idaho dialect of Giberish), opening things like file drawers, waving 'goodbye' and imitating her all time favorite animal- dogs. That's right, she barks. We found out that while she is a very healthy child she is very small... in the zero percentile at a petite 18 pounds. Nobody has to look too far to know why!

Merry Christmas from the Klinginsmith's! We hope you are well and wish the Lord's blessing on your new year!
This year began with the silence brought by many feet of snow.

We had the heaviest winter in 30 years which meant we spent a lot of time shoveling snow off of everything including several friends’ roofs who had dangerous snow loading!
