Year End Post

(If you haven't seen our blog since last Christmas you can scroll down to catch up with January through July 2009 in Mid Year Post.)

When we got back from vacation at the beginning of August a pregnancy test confirmed our suspicion that our family was gaining another member!

We just had our second ultrasound this week and…it’s a BOY!! We expect him around April 23rd.

Just before we left for vacation we had made an offer on a house and it was accepted so we were in that process through August and part of September. We got the keys in mid September, spent a couple of weeks cleaning and with the help of a large crowd of friends and family we moved in on the first weekend of October!

Since we moved in we've done quite a bit more cleaning, some painting and some tree removal. We hope to finish painting the rest of the interior this winter, and landscaping in the spring and new flooring…someday.

Ruth and her business partner, Karin, have been developing Music Conservatory of Sandpoint over the past year and in mid September they held their first classes. They have poured hours and hours into establishing a board of directors, making the business plan, planning classes and teaching teaching teaching. They had a front page article in the newspaper in October; and this week they were interviewed on the radio! They just learned that their application to be a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization was accepted!

The same weekend of the move Jacob started fatigue testing on the wings at Quest. This testing is continuous loading and unloading of the wings to simulate flight. They’ve simulated about 8,000 flight hours so far and hope to be done with the testing by this summer…we’ll see! Jacob and teammate, Jay, have been working with two fatigue experts from Texas and Pennsylvania and were able to coax them to Sandpoint for the start of the test which was a treat.

Quest is producing lots of airplanes now and, just as important, the goal of getting planes to the mission field was realized this year. This makes all the long hours worth the effort.

Kiana is doing very well. This year we worked on potty training (even more seriously after the second baby became a reality for the future) and she has that process figured out.
Her vocabulary is growing very fast which relieves a lot of frustration for all of us! She celebrated her 2nd birthday in September in a series of birthday parties.
(Kiana blowing out the candle on the teddy bear cake.)She enjoyed all of her gifts (we’re thinking of getting a second house just for her toys); but one of her favorites is her ‘whiolin’… a 1/32nd scale violin. She plays it almost any time that Ruth is playing.

This year we made the trip to the Oregon coast for the annual Klinginsmith family reunion. We enjoyed sunny weather this year along with the time with family...and food.

That wraps up the highlights of 2009 for us. Merry Christmas from the K’s !!
